Training weekend: We are holding a training weekend on Saturday and Sunday 6th/7th August 2016. This year’s theme is ‘Taekwon-Do Competition – Raising your Game’, and will be conducted by Senior Master Robert Howard, Master Mark O’Donnell and Mr Leon McSherry.

The Saturday will focus on raising the level of your patterns to be successful at competitions. Mr McSherry is 2016 European Champion in 5th  degree patterns, and SM Howard and Master O’Donnell have years of experience umpiring at European and World Championships.  Between them they will help you identify what you need to do to compete to your highest level.

Day 2 (Sunday) will focus on Competition Sparring and will focus on the sparring drills, techniques and tips from the recent Mr Konstantin Yurikov seminars. This a great chance for all RITA students and instructors to raise the level of their sparring skills.

Summer Grading Results

Congratulations to all those who passed the colour belt grading on the 21st of June 2016. It was a small grading this time and there were one or two Tigers and Dragons being tested too. The advantage of the small grading was that the ITF examiner Master Howard (8th degree) was able to spend time with each student, giving them advice and feedback on what they need to work on to improve their Taekwon-Do technique and skills. Master Howard discussed the importance of flexibility, especially for any student wanting to be a red belt and perform the high kicks in Hwa Rang, break successfully and kick high in sparring.

Very well done to Neasa Britton who was presented with the grading award by Master Howard. The Taekwon-Do grading was held at the Cabra Parkside Community Centre, Rathoath Road, Dublin 7.

There will be a preliminary grading at the end of August for those wish to grade for their black belt at the RITA’s national September Black Belt grading.

The next adult and teen colour belt grading will be in September, so start preparing now.
