Eleven students from Grandmaster Howard’s Taekwon-Do School travelled to Carrick-on-Suir on Sunday (23 Feb) to take part in the RITA’s colour belt squad development programme. The eleven students ranging from yellow belt to red belt trained hard under the guidance of coaches; Mr Paul Tobin, Ms Audrey Condon and Mr Adam Fox. The training was specifically aimed at developing tournament skills with an emphasis on sparring and patterns.
The development programme is aimed at taking young students which show a good potential for international level competition and allowing them to train with their peers at a higher level. All three coaches have a wealth of experience at international events and know what is required to succeed at the very top. Master Howard was also in attendance and noted the comments the coaches made about which skills our students need to work on in class.
Thanks to all the parents who made the two hour drive from Cabra and the Navan Road to Carrick-on-Suir. Without your support the programme would not be as successful and the children would not reach their potential.
